The Archer The Archer is the only terracotta soldier out of 8,000 that was retrieved fully intact. During excavation beginning in the mid 1970's, it was recognized that all of the 8,000 figures had been ruined or destroyed. It is theorized that Chinese peasants attacked the collection in protest after the Emperor's death in 210 B.C., along with tomb raiders in years after. Only one figure, the archer, was retrieved intact, and is exhibited separately in the museum. Xian, China
