High Water in the Virgin Narrows Zion National Park. Springtime, during snow melt, the river is high and raging, and cannot be approached. In the summer though, water levels are low and the Narrows become one of the most popular hiking trails in the United States. The walls of the narrows are 400' high and only a few feet across at some spots.
