This is a group of terracotta soldiers that have been restored and are being prepared for display. They are part of the Terracotta Army of over 8,000 warriors that were built in the 2nd century B.C. under the direction of Emperor Qin, the first Emperor of China.
The figures are life-size (around 6 ft tall) and over 700,000 craftsmen worked on the project, taking 40 years to complete. The soldiers were discovered in 1974 by local farmers drilling a water well. The Terracotta Army is considered the most significant archaeological discovery of the 20th century.
